Modern Warfare 2019 reboot brings the Call of Duty MW franchise back into the old days of pride and glory. Many argue it's the best military shooter out there. With tight gunplay mechanics, the single-player campaign is pure adrenaline, and although short as always, it's filled with memorable action-packed moments. After completing the campaign I feel good and optimistic about the Future of the series.
KILLER REBOOT
The new Modern Warfare is an authentic reboot. You play as badass Tier One SAS and CIA operatives as they track a stash of chemical weapons that were stolen by middle eastern terrorists from an extremist Russian military faction. In the process, they aid rebel forces in the fictitious country of Urzikstan, which borders Russia and is fighting for its independence. The story still touches different parts of the globe as before.
This is the best COD campaign ever! From an incredibly tense raid on a terrorist stronghold in north London to an intense defense of a US embassy under siege by armed forces, it is exciting and brilliantly paced. The raid plays out like an intense recreation of Zero Dark Thirty as the squad slowly breaches bedrooms and stacks up in cramped stairwells.
I love the focus on strong character development, Price, Alex, and Garrick are amazing and have their own small character arcs, but Farah is the main protagonist and the only one with true agency. Her decisions drive the plot forward while Captain Price and company ride shotgun. The campaign shines when it focuses on individual conflicts. The greater geopolitical chess match is relegated to the background as this is a revenge thriller story.
REALISTIC WARFARE
Call of Duty has always relied on its super epic set-piece moments to create a memorable, action-packed experience. Modern Warfare uses that blueprint and mixes it with a strong focus on realism, placement, positioning, and mastering those marksman reflexes to move quickly and shoot at moving targets. Hardened & Veteran difficulties are perfect for players looking for a challenge, the game makes you fragile, but it gives you all the tools you need to become powerful. Just a couple of bullets can end your life on the spot, creating tense gunplay during enemy encounters.
The quality of weapons, ballistics, sounds, and animations has never been so good. There's a real throttle to the Assault Rifles, and those Marksman Rifles pack one hell of a punch. The result is a lightning-fast FPS where every shot counts. Throughout the campaign, that tension establishes tense encounters and thrilling theatrics.
With a new engine, amazing graphics, supreme mocap/acting, and some welcome changes to ballistic gameplay mechanics, MW packs a campaign that is both an adrenaline rush and a blast to play. With engaging strong characters and the top-tier COD combat dialog, combined with an addictive combat loop, the campaign is one of the best and most memorable the franchise has produced.
CONCLUSION
